●Brief History of Guandu Elementary School

Guandu Elementary School is located in the Datun Mountain area. Nearby Guanyin Mountain towers across the river, with verdant forests and majestic ancient temples. Tamsui River and Keelung River meet and converge here and then cross into the sea. This area attracts outstanding people with brilliant talents. You can find National University of Arts, City University of Science and Technology, Mackay Medical Management College Kuandu Branch, Taipei Christian College, and Tzu Chi Humanities Center. It’s also close to Guandu Palace Temple and Kuandu Natural Park. The school is located in the border area of the Northwest District of the city, close to the MRT Guandu Station. Through the Guandu Bridge across the Danshui River, as well as Dadu Road and Zhongyong North Road, it can reach other areas of Greater Taipei. The transportation is convenient and extends in all directions

In 1921, Beitou School established the Kuandu Branch School in Lingshan Palace, which was called "Taipei State Beitou Public School Guandu Separation Classroom". In 1924, due to the lack of space in Lingshan Palace, the school was moved to the silkworm farm(current school site). In November 1945, the Taipei County Government appointed Mr. Pan Yingui as the first principal of the school after its restoration. Thanks to the concerted efforts of previous principals and all teachers and students, the school has been thriving and the educational achievements have been fruitful and widely acclaimed.

Guanshan Building and Dushui Building were built in 1982. A gifted class was established in 1985. An attached kindergarten was established in 1989. The overall planning of the campus was completed in 1995. Zhaixin Building was built in September 1996. Gandou Building was built in August 2003. In 2008, the "Taipei Marine Education Center'' was established in our school to be responsible for the promotion of marine education in Taipei City. Therefore, we actively revitalized the space and developed the characteristics of marine education, and at the same time planned the reconstruction project of Guanshan Building. In 2013, Guanshan Building and Xiaoyue Corridor were completed and opened. The expansion project of the Marine Education Resource Center on the fourth floor of Gandou Building was completed in August 2014. Since then, the river and sea experience courses of the Marine Education Center have been developed vigorously. The school has a total area of 17,579 square meters. In 2023, the number of students is about 1,560 (including 166 in kindergartens). The school district is close to the MRT, with convenient public transportation and a mixture of commercial and residential building.
